Guðlaug Benediktsdóttir was born in 1834 in Eyjafjarðarsýsla. She died in Idaho on February 20, 1909.
Spouse: Jakob Sigurðsson b. in Eyjafjarðarsýsla on February 16, 1827, d. in N. Dakota on January 20, 1921. He took the last name Eyfjörð (Eyford) in the west.
Children: 1. Hanna b. 1862 2. Bogi b. 1863 3. Jakobína b. 1865 4. Júlíus b. 1866 5. Sigurlína b. 1867. Jakob also had a son, Kristján, b. 1871.
They emigrated west to Ontario, Canada in 1873 and settled in Parry Sound. Life’s road led them in 1875 to New Iceland where they lived until 1878. From there, they moved to Winnipeg and lived there until the spring of 1881 when they took land south of Mountain, N. Dakota. A new community was formed there and named Eyford in honor of Jakob Eyfjörð.
