Sigríður Árnadóttir was born on March 30, 1858 in Eyjafjarðarsýsla. She died in Wynyard, Saskatchewan on December 28, 1957.

Spouse: 1) Jónas Jónsson b. April 3, 1852, d. June 8, 1882. 2) 1885 Ásgeir Guðjónsson b. 1854, d. 1951 in Saskatchewan.

Children: With Jónas: 1. María b. 1882 2. Rósa b. May 23, 1882 in Eyjafjarðarsýsla. With Ásgeir: 1. Árni Jónas b. November 22, 1886 2. Ingólfur (Ingi) b. 1887 3. Óli Alfreð (Alfred) b. October 4, 1897.

Sigríður was newly widowed when she emigrated west across the ocean in August, 1882 with her daughter Rósa. Vesturfaraskrá says Maria also came west with them, but Western sources, both in North Dakota and in the Vatnabyggð Settlement in Saskatchewan, do not mention her anywhere. She either remained in Iceland or died on the way west. Sigríður passed through Duluth, Minnesota, on her way west to Pembina County, N. Dakota. She moved to the Eyford Settlement in the spring of 1883 and, in the same year, to the Garðar Settlement. There she and Ásgeir started farming in 1885 and lived there until 1905, but then they moved north to the Vatnabyggð Settlement in Saskatchewan and settled there. They lived on their land until 1941, then moved to live with Sigríður’s daughter, Rósa and her husband, Ólafur Guðmundsson.
