Jónas and Sigríður came west across the sea in 1874 and travelled on to Ontario, Canada. They first lived in Toronto for a while but moved from there to Millbrook where Jónas worked at any available job. In the spring of 1877, they went west to Winnipeg where they lived until the fall, but then went to Gimli. From there, life’s road led them to Garður Settlement in N. Dakota, where they lived the rest of their lives.
