Oddný Jóhannesdóttir was born on July 31, 1845 in S. Þingeyjarsýsla. She died in N. Dakota August 5, 1937.

Children: 1. Jóhannes b. August 11, 1873 2. Friðrik b. 1876, d. of smallpox in New Iceland in 1876 3. Geirfinnur b. February 4, 1885 4. Jón (John) b. March 31, 1890. Daughter, Ingibjörg Oddný, died shortly after birth.
They came west to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1876 and moved to New Iceland the same year. Oddný’s father, Jóhannes Oddsson, came west with them. They lived in Gimli the first year and homesteaded in the area in 1877 and named it Fjón. In the spring of 1880, they moved to Winnipeg and a year later to the Thingvalla Settlement in N. Dakota.
