Katrín Elísabet Sveinsdóttir was born on October 21, 1871 in N. Múlasýsla. She died in N. Dakota on December 19, 1957.
Spouse: 1) 1892 Jón Jónsson born at Hólar in Skagafjarðarsýsla on April 10, 1848, d. 1929. He took the last name Hillman in the west. 2) Walter Hillman. Western Icelandic sources state that he is the brother of Jón.
Children: 1. Louis b. c1900 2. Jón b. c1903 3. Magnús b. 1905 4. Elísabet Gróa b. July 7, 1910. Elísabet had a son, Jón, with her first husband.
Katrín was the daughter of Sveinn Þorsteinsson and Sigurbjörg Björnsdóttir and came west with them to Manitoba in 1876. Jón came west to Ontario, Canada in 1874 with his father and brother. They moved east to Markland, Nova Scotia where they lived until 1882. Jón had started a family who moved to Pembina, N. Dakota. In 1884, Jón moved to Mountain in the Thingvalla Settlement and lived there.
