Metúsalem came west to Minnesota in 1893 and Guðbjörg arrived there the same year. Her father Árni Árnason had moved west the year before with his daughter Stefanía and her family. Metúsalem and Guðbjörg lived in Lyon County, near Minneota, but later moved west to British Columbia, near Vancouver.
