Petrea Guðfinna Þorláksdóttir was born in S. Þingeyjarsýsla on June 2, 1877. She died in Winnipeg on June 6, 1942.

She came west to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1893 with her parents, Þorlákur Jónasson and Kristrún Björnsdóttir, and her siblings. They first settled in the Argyle Settlement, but moved from there in 1909 to Dafoe in the Lakes Settlement (Vatnabyggð) in Saskatchewan. After her mother’s death in 1921, Petrea moved to Winnipeg.
