Jónína Ingibjörg Sigfúsdóttir was born in 1865 in Eyjafjarðarsýsla. She died in Arborg, Manitoba on May 18, 1948.

Ingibjörg came west in 1876 with her parents, Sigfús Ólafsson and Elín Jónsdóttir. They settled in Gimli but then moved south to N. Dakota and settled in the Sand Hill Settlement. Einar came west to Ontario, Canada in 1874 and lived in Kinmount for one year. He was elected to a committee that chose the settlement area for New Iceland in the summer of 1875. He took land north of Gimli in the Árnes Settlement and named his farm Hvítanes. He also lived in Mikley and Unaland in the Fljóts Settlement. He moved south to the Hallson Settlement in N. Dakota in 1881 and from there to the Tingvalla Settlement some time later. From there he moved west to Markerville, Alberta in 1888 and to Kelowna, British Columbia in 1892. They returned to New Iceland in 1899 and settled in Gimli.
