They sailed from Akureyri in the summer 1873 to Copenhagen and from there to Hamburg. From there they sailed west and arrived at a destination in the state of Paraná on the east coast of Brazil on January 8, 1874. They settled on their own land in Curitypa and Hallgrímur died there, but Anna continued farming until her death.
