Kristján Tryggvi Dínusson was born on April 30, 1873 in S. Þingeyjarsýsla. He died in Pembina County, N. Dakota on July 23, 1945.

Kristján came west in 1879 with his parents, Dínus Jónsson and Kristjana Árnadóttir, who settled in N. Dakota. Hallfríður came west in 1875 with her parents, Guðbrandur Erlendsson and Sigríður Hávarðsdóttir. They settled in Markland, Nova Scotia and lived there a number of years before moving to N. Dakota. Kristján and Hallfríður lived in the Akra Settlement.
