Sesselja Eyjólfsdóttir was born on October 15, 1856 in N. Múlasýsla. She died in 1890 in New Iceland.

Sesselja came west in 1876 with her parents, Eyjólfur Magnússon and Vilborg Jónsdóttir. They settled at Unaland in the Fljóts settlement in New Iceland. Þorvaldur came west alone to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1876. He soon went to New Iceland but stayed there just a short time because he got a job east of Selkirk with railway construction. From there he headed north to Mikley in 1878 and in 1881 he settled by the Icelandic River (Íslendingafljót). He lived in the Fljóts settlement the rest of his life.
