Kristrún Pálína Jónsdóttir was born in S. Þingeyjarsýsla in 1877. She died on November 7, 1930 in Saskatchewan. She took the name Palina Hjalmarson in the west.
Spouse: Torfi Steinsson b. in Húnavatnssýsla on October 10, 1869.

Kristrún came west to Canada in 1883 with her parents, Jón Hjálmarsson and Anna Kristjánsdóttir. They settled in the Argyle Settlement. Torfi came west to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1888. He lived there until 1890 but then moved to the Argyle Settlement. He lived there until 1909 and moved to Glenboro. He moved west to the Lakes Settlement (Vatnabyggð) in Saskachewan together with his brother-in-law, Kristján Jónsson, and opened a store in Wynyard, which he ran until 1920. He visited Iceland in 1914.
