Kristín Þóra Helgadóttir was born in 1873 in N. Þingeyjarsýsla. She died on February 2, 1907 in Manitoba.

Kristín came west with her parents, Helgi Tómasson and Margrét Þórarinsdóttir, in 1876. They settled in New Iceland. Vilhjálmur came west to New Iceland with his mother and siblings in 1888. He first lived in Gimli but then settled in Mikley where his land was called Mylnuvík.
