Ingibjörg Ófeigsdóttir was born on October 27, 1856 in N. Múlasýsla. She died on December 22, 1934 in Manitoba.

Guðmundur came west in 1876 and settled in Mikley in New Iceland. There he got a job in a sawmill as a machine inspector. He knew his trade because in 1879 he got a similar job in a sawmill in the Fljóts Settlement. He then decided to start farming in the Ísafold Settlement in 1887, but that did not suit him. He got a job on steamships on Lake Winnipeg for the next few years, but in 1891 they moved to Selkirk, where Guðmundur worked in a sawmill.
