Karítas Árnadóttir fæddist í Skagafjarðarsýslu árið 1818. Dáinn í N. Dakota árið 1886. Ekkja og einstæð móðir. Hún fór vestur til Winnipeg í Manitoba árið 1878 en þangað var þá Jón Jónsson sonur hennar kominn. Saman settust þau að í Hallsonbyggð í >N. Dakota ári seinna. Og þar dó Karítas.
