Sigfús Hjálmarsson was born in 1851 in Ísafjarðarsýsla. Unmarried and childless. Sigfús came to the West in 1887 and was first in Manitoba but then went west to Seattle in 1890. He traveled widely between cities on the west coast before settling on Point Roberts, Washington in 1898. He lived there thereafter.
