Anne’s father was Rev. Níel Steingrímur Thorláksson, paster in Minneota, Minnesota and Selkirk, Manitoba. Anne’s mother was Erika Christofa born in Norway. Haraldur was the son of Sigmar Sigurjónsson and Guðrún Kristjánsdóttir who came west in 1883. It was clear early on that Haraldur wanted to be educated and he began his studies at Wesley College in Winnipeg in 1901 and was a pastor.
