Baldur was the son of Einar Jónsson and Jónína Ingibjörg Sigfúsdóttir in Gimli. Baldur completed his primary education there, then went on to graduate school at Wesley College in Winnipeg. He was in the Canadian Army from May 9, 1918 until the end of the year. Olga was the daughter of Páll Kristinn Olson and Margrét Jónsdóttir in Manitoba. Páll was born in Gimli on January 30, 1879 and Margrét in Iceland on March 3, 1885. Baldur was active in town affairs in Gimli, was secretary of the town council and on the board of the town’s Union Society for a quarter of a century.
