Bergþóra and Einar came to the West in 1893 and returned to Iceland two years later. They returned in 1905 and settled in Winnipeg. They lived there until 1909. That year he bought land in Alberta with his son Kristinn. They named their land Butze, and Bergþóra lived there until 1948, when she moved to Vancouver. She last lived at Höfn, a senior citizens home in that city.
