Einar Sigurðsson was born in Rangárvallasýsla on February 29, 1868. He died in Alberta, Canada on June 26, 1916.

Einar came west alone in 1893 but returned to Iceland in 1895. He was a bridge guard at Þjórsá from 1897-1905. He returned to the West with his wife and children and the family went to Winnipeg. There he worked for the C.N.R. railroad for the first few years, but in 1909 he bought land in Alberta with his son Kristinn. They named the land Butze and Einar lived there until his death.
