Guðmundur Pálsson was born at Seyðisfjörður on July 4, 1887. He died in the Lakes settlement (Vatnabyggð) in Saskatchewan on October 21, 1959.

Guðmundur came west in 1888 with his parents, Páll Guðmundsson and Dorothea Guðmundsdóttir. They settled in Winnipeg. In 1910, Guðmundur moved west to the Lakes settlement (Vatnabyggð) in Saskatchewan and took land in the Hólar settlement. There he farmed and also worked as a smith until 1948. That year he gave up farming, moved to Elfros and continued to work as a smith. He was active in community affairs, cleaning and maintaining the local church and meeting house there. Kristveig’s parents were Björn Jónsson Axfjörður and Valgerður Þorláksdóttir, who came west in 1903.
