Guðmundur Sigurðsson was born in Eyjafjarðarsýsla on November 8, 1887.
Unmarried and childless.
Guðmundur was the son of Sigurður Stefánsson and Jósefína Guðmundsdóttir who came west in 1890. Guðmundur came with them and the family first moved to Garðar, N. Dakota. In 1899, they moved north to Winnipegosis, Manitoba and, six year later in 1905, to the Lakes settlement (Vatnabyggð) in Saskatchewan. They took land in Kristnes the same year and began farming. Guðmundur grew up there and worked with his father for a number of years. Sigurður died there in 1929 and Guðmundur took over the farm.
