Guðrún Jónsdóttir was born in S. Þingeyjarsýsla on May 19, 1880.
Spouse: July 1, 1899 Guðmundur Guðmundsson b. in Skagafjarðarsýsla on October 4, 1867, d. September 25, 1941 in N.Dakota.
Children: 1. Sveinbjörn b. September 13, 1890 2. Guðmundur b. January 1, 1892 3. Torfi b. February 6, 1893. Guðmundur had them with his first wife, Sigurlaug Sveinbjarnardóttir, who died in 1895. Guðmundur was the son of Guðmundur Jóhannesson and Sigríður Aradóttir who came west in 1876 and settled in New Iceland. In 1880 they moved south to N. Dakota and took land near Mountain. Sigurlaug’s parents were Sveinbjörn Jóhannesson and Þorbjörg Eiríksdóttir who likewise came west in 1876. Guðrún was the daughter of Jón Þórarinsson who died in Iceland on April 25, 1891 and Þuríður Sveinsdóttir. Þuríður came west with the children and went to live with Þórvar’s sister in Long Pine, Nebraska. The road led her to N. Dakota in 1896 and there Guðmundur married Guðrún. They were farmers near Mountain.
