Hildur came west to Manitoba in 1902 with her mother, Katrín Hildibrandsdóttir. Hildur attended school in Winnipeg, completed her teacher’s degree and taught in elementary schools from 1911 until her retirement in 1953. She moved that year to Vancouver.
