Ísak Jónsson was born on March 29, 1866 in N. Múlasýsla. He died in Seattle on October 13, 1949. He had the last name Johnson in the west.

Ísak was carpenter in Iceland and in Denmark. He came west in 1892 and moved to Winnipeg. He was a builder there until 1904 when he and his wife moved to the Pacific coast. Jakobína came west in 1889 with her parents, Sigurbjörn Jóhannsson and María Jónsdóttir. They settled in the Argyle settlement and there Jakobína grew up. She was 16 when she moved to Winnipeg where she graduated as a teacher in 1904.
