Jón Eiríksson was born on November 30, 1880 at Oddi in the Fljóts settlement. He died on August 3, 1965.
Spouse: June 1, 1910 Ólöf Ingibjörg Jónsdóttir b. Borgarfjörður Eystri on June 30, 1880. He took the last name Austmann in the west.
Children: 1. Jón Aðalsteinn Eiríkur b. July 15, 1922 2. Guðlaug Helga (Lóa) b. August 22, 1915.
Jón was the son of Eiríkur Eymundsson and Helga Jóhannesdóttir who came west in 1878. They first lived in the Fljóts settlement in 1880 but moved to the floods in New Iceland and settled in N. Dakota. They returned to Oddi in the Fljóts settlement in 1882. Jón grew up in the Fljóts settlement where he did all kinds of transport on the river and then later on the lake. He took care of postal transport for 13 years, was a ship manager but later turned to agriculture and lived at Akranes in Riverton.
