Kristján came west to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1893. Guðrún arrived there a year later. They took land in the Hallson settlement in N. Dakota and lived there until 1902, when they moved to Winnipegosis, Manitoba. They stayed there until 1905, but that year they moved to the Lakes settlement (Vatnabyggð) in Saskatchewan and took land in the Foam Lake settlement. They lived there until 1943, when they moved to New Westminster, British Columbia.
