Margrét Kristjánsdóttir was born in Eyjafjarðarsýsla in 1856.
Spouse: 1883 Jósef Ólafsson b. in Eyjafjarðarsýsla in 1852, d. 1892 in Saskatchewan. He took the last name Olson in the west.
Children: 1. Alexander Óskar b. in Winnipeg in 1885, d. February 4, 1939 2. Victor Emanúel.
Jósef came west to Ontario in Canada in 1873 and spent the first winter there. He moved to Milwaukee in 1874 and lived here and there in Wisconsin until 1880, when he moved to Winnipeg, Canada. He ran a butcher shop in the town for a few years, but took up land in the Þingvalla settlement, Saskatchewan, in 1888. Margrét came west with her widowed mother, Anna Sigríður Guðmundsdóttir, and four siblings to New Iceland in 1876.
