Rannveig was the daughter of Albert Sigursteinsson and Sigurrós Guðrún Jónsdóttir at Selsstaðir in the Geysir settlement in Manitoba. Jón was the son of Magnús Magnússon and Ingibjörg Sveinsdóttir of Eyjólfsstaðir in the Hnausa settlement in New Iceland.
