Sigtryggur Guðmundsson was born in Skagafjarðarsýsla on February 14, 1874. He died in Wynyard, Saskatchewan on December 14, 1952. He took the last name Goodman in the west.

Sigtryggur came west in 1901 with his father, Guðmundur Kristjánsson, and his second wife, Sigríður Helgadóttir. They moved to Pembina, N. Dakota. Sigtryggur moved to the Vallar Settlement in Saskatchewan in 1903 and bought land in the Lakes Settlement (Vatnabyggð) near Wynyard in 1912. Actually, he sold it a little later and bought another in the same settlement and lived there. Arnþrúður was the daughter of Gunnlaugur Gíslason and Halldóra Jónasdóttir, who came west in 1888.
