Skúli Torfason was born in N. Múlasýsla in 1852. He died in Lundar on May 10, 1939.

Skúli practiced seamanship and joined a Norwegian ship and sailed far and wide. He was in Norway for a while but moved from there to Iceland and lived in Seyðisfjörður. He worked as a seaman from there and later from Vopnafjörður. The family came west to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1903 and the same year moved north to the Lundar settlement. They took land near Swan Lake (Álftvatn) where they lived for seven years. Then they moved to Winnipeg, where Skúli worked as a house builder. In 1923, Skúli sold his house in Winnipeg and started farming with his sons in the Lundar settlement. Skúli was blind in his later years and after his land was sold, they settled in Lundar, where they lived after that.
