Theodore Skulason Thorfinnsson was born in Hallson, N. Dakota on January 16, 1895. Theodore’s grandfather on his mother’s side was Guðmundur Skúlason.

Theodore was the son of Þorlákur Þorfinnsson and Guðríður Guðmundsdóttir, early settlers in N. Dakota. He completed primary school, received a B. Sc. degree in 1921 from North Dakota Agricultural College in Fargo, and from the same school a M. Sc. degree in agricultural economics a year later. After completing his studies, he taught agricultural economics in various departments of the school. Later he was appointed agricultural advisor and worked on research in his field. He last lived in Nebraska.
