Abigael came west by sea with her mother, Guðríður Hafliðadóttir, in 1894 to Winnipeg, Manitoba. They moved from there to Baldur in the Argyle settlement the same year and where her brother Magnús had come. In 1902 she went west to Washington and settled in Blaine and lived there the rest of her life.
