They emigrated west to N. Dakota in 1889, Tryggvi’s parents, Kristján Jónsson and Guðrún Jónsdóttir, traveled with them. Tryggvi and Aðalbjörg first lived in Cashel, moved to Grafton, and ended in the Garðar Settlement. Most of the time was spent farming, but they later moved to the village of Garðar.
