Aðalsteinn Sigurjón Ísaksson was born in Mountain, N. Dakota on October 28, 1898. He died at Betel in Gimli on April 21, 1987. He took his father’s last name Jónsson in the west.

Aðalsteinn was the son of Ísak Jónsson and Ingibjörg Benediktsdóttir, early settlers in the Framnes settlement in 1901. Sigríður Helga’s parents were Kristinn Frímann Kristinsson and Kristín Ingveldur Hallgrímsdóttir.
Aðalsteinn grew up in N. Dakota with his parents and moved with them to the Framnes settlement in New Iceland in 1901. He was in the Canadian Army 1916-1919 in France and after he came home, he was a farmer in New Iceland.
