Björg Kristjánsdóttir was born on November 16, 1860 in S. Þingeyjarsýsla.
Spouse: Sigvaldi Jónsson born in N. Múlasýsla on October 14, 1848. He died in Saskatchewan before 1920.
Children: Björg had a daughter with Jósef Jónsson, Elín Ragnheiður, b. at Burstafell in Vopnafjörður on October 8, 1886, d. in British Columbia in 1969. Sigvaldi had 1. Sigríður f. 1876 2. Stefán b. 1882.
Sigvaldi and Björg emigrated west in 1889 and came first to Winnipeg, Manitoba. They moved west to Saskatchewan and took land east of Churchbridge in 1890. A drought on the plains, drove them, like so many others, from their land and they went to Winnipeg, where they established a dairy farm. Both Sigvaldi and Björg had relatives in New Iceland and, in 1901, they settled in the Fljóts Settlement and named their farm Burstafell. In 1902 they are listed there with Elín, nothing is known about the fate of Sigríður and Stefán. The couple did not fare well in New Iceland and in the years 1903-1904 they settled on land north of Elfros where Sigvaldi carried on farming, but he was struck by lightning and died. Björg worked in the area for a few years but moved to California around 1930, her brother Snorri lived in San Diego at the time. She returned to Saskatchewan ten years later, where she lived with her daughter, Elin.
