Davíð Þorkelsson was born in N. Múlasýsla on March 29, 1882. He died on March 23, 1922 in Washington state. He took the last name Swanson in the west.

Kristín came west alone to Vancouver in 1903. They she married her husband and together they moved to Bellingham, Washington in 1908. Davíð came to the West in 1898. At first he worked at whatever was available, then he set up a printing business and later he started repairing cars.
