Elísabet was the daughter of Jóhann Jónsson and Guðbjarg Vilhjálmsdóttir, who lived in Ljósaland in N. Múlasýsla. She and Kristján came west to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1887 and later moved to Minneota in Lyon County, Minnesota. They are listed there in both the 1900 and 1905 census records. Kristján had a brother Bergvin, and after his death, Kristján and Elísabet took in Bergvin’s daughter Elísabet as a foster child. They moved to Winnipeg and are listed there in the census of 1916.
