Friðrik Jóhannesson was born on May 23, 1832 in S. Þingeyjarsýsla. He died on July 30, 1913 in Manitoba.

Friðrik and Solveig emigrated west to Ontario, Canada in 1874. They moved to Lockport, Nova Scotia and lived there until 1880 when they moved west to Winnipeg, Manitoba. They divorced there. Friðrik moved south to the Garðar Settlement in N. Dakota and later to the Sand Hills Settlement.
