Guðmundur Friðriksson was born at Langanes in N. Þingeyjarsýsla on August 9, 1891.
Spouse: 1) Emma Braathen b. May 18, 1912, d. 1937 2) June 19, 1943 Líneik Benjamínsdóttir b. September 25, 1892 in the Grunnavatn Settlement in Manitoba.
Children: With Emma: 1. Mildred b. August 28, 1932 2. Friðrik b. January 25, 1934 3. Emerson Long b. March 13, 1937.
Guðmundur came west to Saskatchewan in 1905 with his parents, Friðrik Guðmundsson and Þorgerður Jónsdóttir. They took land near Mozart in the Lakes Settlement (Vatnabyggð). Guðmundur became a farmer in the area but also took an active part in social affairs. He was a member of the local council in 1928-52 and the Chairman from 1938. He also often worked for the cooperatives in the area.
