Halldór Jónsson was born November 7, 1830 in N. Múlasýsla. He died in Winnipeg on October 27, 1902.
Spouse: 1) Margrét Sigfúsdóttir 2) Jóhanna Einarsdóttir 3) Gróa Þorsteinsdóttir 4) Sigurbjörg Jónsdóttir b. May 27, 1840 in N. Múlasýsla, d. October 13, 1913.
Children: With Margrét: 1. Þórunn b. 1855. Two sons died in childbirth. With Sigurbjörg: 1. Margrét Jóhanna b. 1867 2. Helga b. 1874 3. Rustikus b. 1876 4. Halldóra Petrína.
They came west to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1876 and took land in the Víðirnes Settlement in New Iceland. They left there in the spring of 1880, moved to N. Dakota, and lived with Halldor’s daughter Thorunn, who lived near Grafton. Halldor did not buy land but they lived with their daughters in the country near Grafton. They moved to Winnipeg in 1889.
