Halli moved west to Winnipeg in Manitoba with his parents and sister in 1883. From there they moved to New Iceland where they lived all their lives. Gudrun emigrated to Winnipeg, Manitoba with her parents, Gisli Arnason and Dyrunn Steinsdottir, in 1883. They settled in Mikley in New Iceland.
