Haraldur Þorláksson was born in S. Þingeyjarsýsla in 1847. He took the name Thorlakson in the west.

Children: 1. Lovísa Björg b. September 21, 1875 2. Páll 3. Pálína 4. Ásta 5. Gunnar. There were five additional children who all died before 1897.
Haraldur and María emigrated west to Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1872. They lived there a number of years, but then moved to Shawano County. They were there until 1879 when they moved to N. Dakota. They settled in a hollow below where the village of Mountain stands today. The settlement was known as Víkur.
