Ingibjörg emigrated west with her son, Hallgrímur, and his wife, Guðlaug, and their children 1904. They traveled to Winnipeg, Manitoba where Hallgrímur became will with tuberculosis and he sailed back to Iceland with his wife. Ingibjörg and the two children remained in Winnipeg. Her son, Sigurður, had emigrated west in 1888.
