Ingveldur came to Winnipeg, Manitoba as a widow in 1897 along with her children, Þorbjörn, Oddný, Böðvar, and Sigurður. He son, Jón, had come west a year earlier. Ingveldur moved from Winnipeg to Swan Valley (Álftárdalinn) and took land there. Her sons Þorbjörn, Jón, Böðvar and Sigurður, likewise did the same. After a number of years, Ingveldur moved to Elfros, Saskatchewan with Sigurður and his family. She died there on November 3, 1920.
