Jón Jónsson was born in N. Múlasýsla on September 29, 1856. He took the last name Westdal in the west. He died at Betel care home in New Iceland in 1932.
Spouse: Anna Kristrún Gunnlaugsdóttir b. June 12, 1849 in N. Múlasýsla, d. May 6, 1910.
Children: 1. Einar b. 1881, d. 1911 2. Kristjana b. January 26, 1883 3. Björgvin b. 1884, d. 1940 4. Páll b. 1887 5. Sigga 6. Helga 7. Haraldur. Coming west with them was foster child Grímur Guðjónsson.
They came west in 1904 to Winnipeg, Manitoba and immediately went west. They came to the Lakes Settlement (Vatnabyggð) in Saskatchewan at the beginning of the winter of the same year. It was in the so-called Wynyard Settlement.
