They came west in 1883 and moved to New Iceland. They were there a year then next moved to Selkirk where Jón worked in a store. They settled in the Hóla Settlement in 1890 and lived on their land for five years. They moved to Glenboro in 1895 and shortly after 1897 to Winnipeg. They lived there after that and Jón worked as a carpenter.
