Jónína Þuríður Daníelsdóttir was born in N. Múlasýsla on June 13, 1890. She died on July 29, 1970 in the Geysir settlement. She was known as Ninna Thordarson in the west.

Jónína was the daughter of Daníel Frímann Daníelsson and Guðrún Magnúsdóttir who came west in 1894. They settled in the Lundar settlement. Jóhannes was the son of Sigurjón Þórðarson and Anna Jónsdóttir who came west in 1892 and settled in the Geysir settlement.
Jóhannes lived and farmed his entire life in New Iceland. After many years at Geysir, they moved to Gimli where Jóhannes started a fur farm, J.B. Fur Farm. Both Jónína and Jóhannes were involved in community affairs in Gimli, and devoted much time to strengthening the bonds with Iceland.
