Sveinn came west in 1879 and worked widely in Manitoba. Kristín came west in 1882. They began farming in the Shoal Lake Settlement (Grunnavatnsbyggð) and were there until 1894. That year they moved to the Hóla Settlement and Sveinn took land northeast of Glenboro. He bought land near the Assiniboine and raised livestock.
