Kristín Jónsdóttir was born in Mýrasýsla on April 23, 1894. She died in Saskatchewan on August 22, 1958.

Kristín came west in 1909 and was with her sister, Vilborg, in the Lakes settlement (Vatnabyggð) until 1915, then moved to Winnipeg. Sigurður came west with his mother, Ingveldur Jónsdóttir, and siblings in 1897. They settled in the Argyle settlement in Manitoba but moved from there in 1899 north to Áftárdal, Swan River. They lived there until 1911, then moved west to the Lakes settlement (Vatnabyggð) in Saskatchewan and there Sigurður took land near Elfros.
